Hello,
The word is out regarding Look Up Asheville, set to arrive in early November.
We are creating something really beautiful here at Grateful Steps, something that I am honored to be a part of, something that makes me grateful to be here.
Look Up Asheville features the photography of Michael Oppenheim, and as you can see above, he has taken close-up shots of the countless architectural details that we often are too much in a hurry to notice but which, nonetheless, shape our subtle experience of the city. Page after page presents the most stunning images--a gargoyle atop the Jackson Building, a bas-relief high up on the Self Help building. There are only images, among the thousand in the book, that are seen when we "look down." One of them is in the picture above--I'll let you discover the other. This is the theme of the book, after all--to look up, too see what magnificent invention surrounds us.
Look Up Asheville is the dream that started Grateful Steps in the very first place. Dr. Dan Cabaniss loved the architecture here and wanted to create a book that celebrated it, and we are loving every second of bringing that dream to life.
